Residents Invited to Discuss County Metrics for School Capacity and Transportation Improvements
The Town's Long Range Planning Committee will meet with officials from the Montgomery Planning Department on Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall, located at 4301 Willow Lane. This meeting will address how the proposed changes to the Growth and Infrastructure Policy (GIP) will specifically impact Bethesda. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.
About the Growth & Infrastructure Policy (GIP)
Updated every four years, the GIP assesses the adequacy of the County’s essential public facilities, with a focus on schools and transportation systems. It evaluates these infrastructures based on projected capacity, growth, and future development needs.
For example, because Bethesda is classified as a transportation “red zone,” the County has prioritized enhancing the safety and convenience of walking, biking, and transit over reducing motor vehicle congestion.
The County Council will deliberate changes to the GIP's metrics this fall. For more information, visit bit.ly/CountyGIP.
