Town Council Seeks Input on 
County's Multi-Family Housing Proposals


On June 24, the Planning Department presented its rezoning recommendations during the County Council's Planning, Housing, and Parks (PHP) Committee meeting. The PHP held a work session on July 8 and will hold another work session on July 22 to discuss the details of the recommendations before potentially introducing a Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) this fall.

July 18 Planning Board Session on Housing Recording Available


On July 18, the Montgomery County Planning Board sponsored an informative and illuminating session on housing entitled "Intersection: Land Use and Housing Supply, a National and Local Perspective."  This session, the first of a three-part speaker series, focused on tools being used nationally to increase housing supply and an analysis of the local housing market. 

The next two sessions, which are open to the public, will be held in September and October 2024.

Community Meetings Planned for 
Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment

On June 27, the Montgomery County Planning Board approved the scope of work for the Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment, which will take a fresh look at the 2017 Bethesda Downtown Plan’s implementation recommendations related to economic development, park development, transportation improvements, schools, affordable housing, and community recreation. The plan amendment is limited in nature. It retains the same boundary and will not re-open the entire 2017 Plan. Read the scope of work.
