Bethesda Downtown Plan Minor Master Plan Amendment Community Meeting, Saturday, August 17, 11 a.m., Town Hall

Save the Date!
Attainable Housing Symposium with County Executive Marc Elrich
September 5, 2024, 7 p.m., Zoom

SAVE THE DATE for a special Montgomery County Civic Federation symposium on the Attainable Housing Strategies Initiative (AHSI), now before the County Council.  AHSI would eliminate single-family zoning in most of the county and allow multi-family homes to be built on single-family lots in most neighborhoods to increase housing supply.

Speakers for the September 5 symposium include County Executive Marc Elrich; Michele Rosenfeld, Land Use Attorney and former lead attorney for MNCPPC and Montgomery County Planning Board; and Dr. Glenn Orlin, experienced planner and engineer and former Deputy Staff Director for the Montgomery County Council.  More details will be provided soon.

County Council Listening Sessions on Multifamily Housing
September 25, 2024, 7 p.m., In-Person

During September and October, Montgomery Planning staff and Montgomery County Planning Board members will host six community meetings across the county.  County Council President Andrew Friedson and district Councilmembers aim to gather feedback on Attainable Housing Strategies.

There will be five in-person listening sessions held in each of the county’s five regional service areas, including at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center on September 25, followed by a virtual meeting.

These community meetings are part of the County Council’s review of potential zoning modifications the Planning Board recommended to the Council in June that would allow property owners to have the option to build a wider range of housing types in areas of the county that for decades have only allowed one single-family detached home per lot.

Sign up to attend a listening session.

Coquelin Run Stream Stabilization

On Monday, August 19, weather permitting, the Town is scheduled to begin a stream stabilization project adjacent to Lynn Drive. The purpose of the project is to reinforce the stream bank and realign the stream to prevent it from eroding the public right-of-way adjacent to Lynn Drive. Construction is scheduled to take approximately three weeks. The contractor will maintain a travel lane on Lynn Drive during the work. Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org if you have any questions.

Free COVID Test Kits

The Town has free COVID test kits in the Town office. The kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
