Corso Chevy Chase Development Update Galerie Living is progressing with plans for the Corso Chevy Chase senior living facility at 7100 Connecticut Avenue. Below is an organized timeline and status update of the project for your reference:
Timeline of Key Upcoming Activities: February 2025: Abatement Work Begins on the existing buildings. This will involve removal of asbestos and hazardous materials, pest inspection and treatment, and disconnection of utilities. On-site parking will be used for all vehicles related to abatement (no parking will be allowed on Town streets). The Town will direct vehicles to avoid interior streets. Duration: Approximately 8 weeks. April 2025:Applications will be submitted for County demolition and construction building permits. Review Timeline: Demolition permits: Approximately 60 days. Building permits: Approximately 6 months. June 2025:Demolition Work Expected to Begin. This will involve material site preparation, consisting of installation of sediment control protections, removal of approved trees, installation of tree protection measures, and creation of staging areas for materials and equipment. Demolition will proceed after these preparations are completed. Duration: Approximately 20 weeks. October/November 2025:Construction of Corso Chevy Chase Phase 1 is expected to begin. Construction will take approximately 24 months.
Other Milestones and Updates: Current Progress: - Final Forest Conservation Plan: Approved by Park and Planning.
- Site Plan Review: Town Arborist is reviewing under the Urban Forest Ordinance to determine if additional tree protection measures are needed.
- Stormwater Management Plan: Submitted to the County Department of Permitting Services (DPS); Town’s consulting engineer is reviewing and will submit comments if necessary.
- Traffic Signalization Plan: Approved by the State Highway Administration to allow vehicles exiting the site to turn onto northbound Connecticut Avenue. Construction scheduling is pending.
- Construction Management Plan: The Town is working with the developer to create a binding plan to minimize construction impacts on adjacent residents.

Cellular Antenna Tower: - A temporary cellular antenna has been installed to replace one on the roof of an existing building slated for demolition. Once construction is completed, the antenna will be relocated to a new building, and the temporary tower will be removed.
