Civic Coalition Sends Letter Opposing 
Governor's Housing Bill

The Town has joined 11 other Montgomery County municipalities in submitting a letter to District 16 and 18 state legislators expressing our collective opposition to Governor Moore's housing bill entitled The Starter and Silver Homes Act of 2026. 

Mayor Barney Rush wrote about this bill in the February 2026 edition of the Forecast newsletter. The bill would severely restrict the Town's authority to regulate development and would, over time, have a major impact on our Town. Further, the bill could be counterproductive to the Governor’s goal of providing more affordable housing.
