The Crisis of Addiction: A Panel DiscussionSunday, April 8, 4-5:30 p.m., Town Hall
Did you know that alcoholism kills more Americans than drug addiction every year? Did you know that addiction is a brain disease?
Please join us for a discussion about the chronic disease of addiction, the latest developments in drug and alcohol use, as well as treatment methods for healthy recovery. We have 4 experts who will give brief presentations followed by a question & answer session.
Our panelists are: Don Sloan, who has worked in the recovery field for thirty-one years and is the founder of Recovery Care Partner in Silver Spring MD, which specializes in intervention and recovery care management. He is also in long-term recovery from addiction. Zach Snitzer, the Co-Founder of the Maryland Addiction Recovery Center (MARC). MARC was established in 2013 in Towson MD and provides ambulatory opiate detox, extended care treatment and outpatient services. Zach is also in long-term recovery from addiction. Beth Kane Davidson, the director of Suburban Hospital’s addiction treatment center, with more than 30 years of experience in the addiction treatment field. Rob D. is an active member of the local Washington DC metro area recovery community and in long-term recovery from addiction. Rob will share his first-hand knowledge of his recovery journey and what has worked to keep him clean and sober.

Attention bakers and eaters! Join us at the Sixth Annual Town of Chevy Chase Bake-Off! This bake-off will be for PIES -- sweet and savory. Judges will be Angela Winter, owner of The Sweet Teensy Bakery ( www.sweetteensy.com) and Teresa Mollegas, owner of Pie Sisters ( www.piesisters.com).
Bakers should bring 9” pies -- tasting size will be determined by the number of RSVPs received. (There will be prizes for the best pies!) Eaters should be ready to sample the delicious entries and vote for the People’s Choice Award.
