My husband and I have just finished knocking on each one of the over 1,000 houses in this Town. We didn’t use surrogates or “block captains” because I wanted to hear directly from you about the things that matter to you.
 
I have learned that:
• the things that unite this Town are greater than the things that divide this Town.
• we are all neighbors first.
• we like living within walking distance of urban amenities and public transportation.
• but we want to preserve our buffer areas to maintain a peaceful, quiet environment.
• we all love the trail, regardless of how we feel about the Purple Line.
I can help because:
• I am the only candidate under 50 in this election – I can offer a fresh perspective.
• I have not been fighting the same fights over and over again for 20 years – I can look at issues without predetermined biases.
• I have spent my career in constituent services, working for a state senator when I was 16 and the President before I had my daughter – I believe an elected official’s foremost priority should be serving you.
I will help by:
• Listening to you – at weekly office hours (at various times to accommodate different schedules) and at monthly council meetings by setting up meet and greets an hour before each meeting, for example.
• Communicating with you – through targeted email lists, social media, and knocking on your door (again!) as needed.
• Giving you a voice – I believe that elected officials should act in accordance with the community opinion when possible, without substituting personal opinion or agenda.
• Getting you to help – so many of people I spoke to wanted to help the Town in various ways, and yet didn’t know how. We have such a reservoir of expertise in this Town; now that I have met so many of you, I plan on reaching out to you to get your help. 
It has truly been a privilege to speak to the many of you who have taken time out of your busy days to speak for a few moments with us over the past few weeks. Thank you. As I hope you can tell, if elected on May 6, I will work hard on your behalf, and I will work hard to hear directly from you.
