Town Residents,

We are aware that many of you who participate in the Town’s composting program, operated by The Compost Crew, have experienced disappointing service over the last few months.  Town staff has been trying actively to address these problems and has secured a commitment from The Compost Crew to implement several operational improvements and to become more involved with the resolution of customer complaints.  Below is a message from Ryan Walter, the President and Co-Founder of The Compost Crew.  We hope that your service will improve very soon, and we ask that you continue to contact us with any ongoing problems or concerns.

To all Town of Chevy Chase Residents,

I have spoken with your Town Manager, Todd Hoffman, on several occasions regarding some disappointing issues with your compost service.  Most discouraging is the recurring nature of these issues that are mostly related to missed pickups, but also include failure to properly clean your bin, or replace your rubber bands, and others.

As one of our first municipal customers, and a long time supporter of not just composting but The Compost Crew specifically, the Town of Chevy Chase is very important to my company and to me personally.

To that end, I want to make myself available to anyone that has had a poor experience with our service to discuss your concerns and how the company can work to ensure that they are addressed and do not recur.  Please contact me at 301-801-7713 or ryan@thecompostcrew.com.

Also, please note that, generally, the best way to report issues, such as missed collections, is to contact our office directly.  However, you may escalate issues to Todd Hoffman and myself for a quicker response.  Please call 301-202-4450 or email chevychase@thecompostcrew.com with any questions or issues you might have.  We have an average response time of approximately 15 hours to all customer inquiries; if your experience has been different than that, please contact me so I can investigate what went wrong.

We work very hard to perform your composting services, and I know that we can get the Town of Chevy Chase back on a strong footing in the coming months.  All ideas, thoughts, or complaints are welcome.
