We are about $1,425 short to provide bountiful food baskets to all 80 MCPS families this Thanksgiving. Our grocery shopping starts this Friday.
It is definitely not too late to contribute. All donations are welcome. $25 purchases a turkey; $50 purchases groceries; $75 purchases an entire Thanksgiving basket.
If you would like to be part of this neighbor-to-neighbor effort, please drop off a check (made payable to YMCA-YFS) or Giant/Safeway Gift Cards to the Town Office or Georgia Guhin (4006 Rosemary Street). Georgia’s mail slot is available if she is not home. Stop by the Town Hall on Saturday, November 21 between 1 -3 pm to help decorate the boxes.
Thanksgiving provides much loved days off for kids, but for many parents the holiday puts a very real strain on family food budgets. Our Town’s contribution of 80 dinner baskets, now in its 7th year, is part of a larger county effort that helps MCPS families with groceries, not only for a Thanksgiving meal, but throughout the long holiday weekend.
Thanks to all who have generously supported this community effort!
