Decorate Thanksgiving Food Boxes, Saturday, November 19, 10 a.m. to 12 noon -- Join neighbors and friends to decorate the boxes for Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets in the Lawton Center Art Room this Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  Art supplies, cider and cookies provided.  No experience necessary!

It is not too late to contribute to the Town’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets.  We are helping 150 Montgomery County Public School families in need with a bountiful meal this upcoming holiday.  Now in its 8th year, the Town is part of a larger County effort to help MCPS families with groceries not only for their Thanksgiving meal, but throughout the long holiday weekend.

Checks (payable to YMCA-YFS) can still be dropped off at the Town Office or to Georgia Guhin (4006 Rosemary Street).  All donations are greatly appreciated.  $25 purchases a turkey; $50 purchases groceries; $75 purchases an entire basket.

Thanks for supporting our community effort this Thanksgiving.

Winter Outwear Clothing Drive -- November 1, 2016 - January 31, 2017. The Town’s Community Relations Committee, working with the Lawton Community Center, is collecting clean, gently-used or never used warm coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, pants, and socks to donate to local charities serving those in need.  Clothing boxes for your donations are in the Town Hall (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and the Lawton Community Center (Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)

Utility Work Update -- Next week, WSSC will be doing a shutdown on Ridgewood Avenue on Monday to bring one of the newly installed mains into service.  Impacted residents have been notified.  WSSC is not expecting to do any other work next week.

Washington Gas will continue to make individual house connections to the newly installed mains next week.  They will not work on Thursday or Friday.

Next week, the Washington Gas paving contractor is scheduled to work, primarily on Ridgewood Avenue, to replace the temporary asphalt that is back-filled into the excavated trenches with the permanent base asphalt.  No Parking signs will be posted in the area of the work.  The paving contractor will not work on Thursday or Friday.

Thank you for your continued patience during the ongoing utility work. Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.
