As was posted on the Town Neighbors private listserv, residents reported to the Town that an anti-Semitic flier was left on their driveway last week. The Town immediately engaged Montgomery County Police, who in turn communicated with the police officers who patrol the Town. Councilmember Joel Rubin contacted the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to receive additional support. The police and ADL are working together, and we understand from them that they believe this to be the work of one individual who has engaged in similar behavior in DC, Bethesda, and other neighboring communities over a number of years.
With the Jewish high holidays approaching, please remain vigilant and report crimes and suspicious activity to the police at 301-279-8000. Emergency situations and crimes in progress should always be reported by calling 911. You can learn more about public safety information at the Town website. In addition, Councilmember Rubin is organizing discussions with residents who wish to discuss this and all hateful activities. To participate, please email him at joel@townofchevychase.org.
