Utility/Concrete Work Update
-- Next week, Washington Gas will continue installing gas mains on Connecticut Avenue between Thornapple Street and Underwood Street.

Thank you for your continued patience during the ongoing utility work. The Town will provide frequent updates on the utility work via the Town Crier.  Please contact the Town Office at

New Year's Holiday, January 1 -- Town office closed.  Household trash will not be collected on New Year's Day, Monday, January 1, but will be collected on your next regularly scheduled trash day.  Yard trash will be collected on Tuesday, January 2.

Family Movie Night – “Moana”, Friday, January 5, 6 p.m., Town Hall -- From Walt Disney Studios comes "Moana," a sweeping, animated film about an adventurous teen who sails on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the mighty demigod Maui, who guides her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she's always sought: her own identity. Music by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Movie rated PG. 103 minutes long. Pizza and snacks at 5:30; movie starts at 6:00. Space is limited, so please RSVP to townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144. A responsible adult must attend the movie with their children.

Leaf Collection
-- Leaf collection has ended.  Leaves may be put in paper bags or cans and placed out for collection with regular yard trash.

Volunteers Needed for Town’s Centennial Committee --
2018 is the Town’s centennial, and we are seeking resident volunteers to join a Town Centennial Committee to help plan and organize an April event and other activities. Town resident Bridget Hartman has agreed to chair this committee. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact the Town office at 301-654-7144 or townoffice@townofchevychase.org. We look forward to celebrating our 100th anniversary with all of you!

Neighborhood Watch Block Captains Needed --
The Town is seeking resident volunteers to serve as block captains for our Neighborhood Watch Program. The number of block captains has declined over the past few years, and the Town hopes to increase participation in the program. If we determine that there is insufficient interest among residents, the Town may choose to discontinue the program and rely solely on the Town’s communication tools, such as Town Crier and Alert TOCC, to inform residents of public safety issues and incidents. If you are interested in serving as a block captain, please contact Dave Eason, Chair of the Town’s Public Services Committee, at deason@martoneconstruction.com for more information.

Winter Outerwear Clothing Drive, November 1 - February 28 --
The Town’s Community Relations Committee, working with the Lawton Community Center, is collecting clean, gently-used or never used warm coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, pants and socks to donate to local charities serving those in need.  Clothing boxes for your donations are in the Town Hall (Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and the Lawton Community Center (Monday thru Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9:30 to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
