Utility Work Update

Next week, WSSC will connect the new water mains to existing water mains at several locations throughout the Town.  This work will involve scheduled shutdowns.  Affected residents will be notified in advance.

WSSC’s sewer contractor will continue to replace a sanitary sewer main on East Avenue between Bradley Lane and Ridge Street.  Neither contractor will work on Monday.

Thank you for your continued patience during the ongoing utility work. Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.

Street Repair Work

On Tuesday of next week the Town’s paving contractor will begin repaving work on Ridgewood Terrace, and on Thornapple Street between Meadow Lane and Ridgewood Avenue, weather permitting.  The contractor will finish paving work on Pine Place.  Later in the week, paving work is scheduled to begin on Thornapple Street between Ridgewood Avenue and Maple Avenue, and on Maple Avenue between Thornapple Street and Stanford Street.

Please contact the Town Office at
townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.

 Memorial Day, May 28

Town Office closed. Household trash will not be collected on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, but will be collected on your next regularly scheduled trash day.  Yard trash will be collected on Tuesday, May 29.

A Big Town Centennial Celebration!

On June 3, a week from this Sunday, the kick-off celebration of the Town’s Centennial will feature something for residents of all ages:  A tour of 10 distinctive resident gardens, along a chance to ride an Old Town Trolley, from 1-4 PM; an invitation to our younger residents to create a “My Town” mural from 3-4 PM in the Town Hall; and, finally, all this capped off with a festive 100th Anniversary reception in the Town Hall with Prosecco, wine, and tasty hors-d'oeuvres, along with the opening of a fascinating exhibit on Town history.

Guitar Concert featuring David Ziegele
Sunday, June 10, 4-6 PM, Town Hall

Join us as Town resident David Ziegele plays several of his vintage guitars at this Sunday afternoon concert. This will be an exploration of fingerstyle acoustic guitar music in folk, ragtime, jazz, and blues styles.  Learn how the sounds that a Martin guitar made in the 1920’s and ‘30’s differ from other guitars made earlier or later.  Add in his acoustic slide guitar and we have a very enjoyable couple of hours to look forward to. Great event for all ages.  Appetizers, wine, and music -- perfect for a Sunday in June. Please RSVP to the Town Office by calling 301-654-7144 or emailing townoffice@townofchevychase.org.

Please Collect and Dispose of Dog Waste Properly

The Town Office has received numerous complaints about dog waste being left on residents’ yards and on the Town right-of-way.

The Town has installed numerous Dogi-Pots around Town that provide collection bags and disposal containers.  Not collecting dog waste is unlawful and poses a health hazard.  Also, please do not dispose of collected dog waste in residents’ recycling or yard waste bins.  The Town’s contractor will remove dog waste bags from these containers and leave them on the ground.  We appreciate your cooperation in addressing this issue.
