Family movie nights, 4th of July picnic, concerts, the chili dinner, and wine tastings are a few of the annual events that are quite popular in the Town. These events, and many others, are planned by and run by the Community Relations Committee. I’ve been the chair of this committee for the last 3 years and will be the acting chair when the committee year begins in September. Several people who have served on the committee are now retiring. This committee needs at least 12 people to function well, but we currently have only 7 volunteers. Without enough volunteers, the Town’s special events cannot continue. Serving on the Community Relations Committee is fun and satisfying, and Committee meetings are enjoyable, efficient, and usually over by 8:30 p.m. (We meet the first Thursday evening of the month, September - June.) Committee members meet and form friendships with Town residents. We get thanked a lot. We build community for others, and for ourselves. Members are not expected to dedicate an inordinate amount of time to committee work, and family and work commitments are respected. If you are new in Town, this committee is a great way to make friends. I encourage everyone to consider this opportunity and join in to help us keep the Town’s wonderful special events. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions. Wicca Davidson301email@example.com
