Utility Work and Concrete Repair Update

Next week, WSSC is scheduled to begin connecting houses in the 4300 block of Thornapple Street to the new water main.  WSSC’s sewer contractor will continue restoration work on Leland Street, Walsh Street, and East Avenue following the recent sewer line replacement.

The Town’s concrete contractor is scheduled to make concrete repairs on Willow Lane, 44th Street, 45th Street, and 46th Street.

Thank you for your continued patience during the ongoing utility work. Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.

Chevy Chase Green Town Fair
Saturday, September 22, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m
.

The inaugural Green Town Fair will be held on Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jane Lawton Community Center.  Highlights include exhibitors, speakers, a giveaway, plant exchange, music, food and a community forum on the Dennison Sustainable Garden Project at 1 p.m. Rain or Shine. Click here for more information.

Zimmerman Park Forum
Wednesday, September 26, 7 p.m., Town Hall

On Wednesday, September 26 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall, the Town will host a forum to hear from residents about potential improvements to Zimmerman Park.  The contemplated improvements include an off-leash dog exercise area as well as a paved pathway and staircase leading to the sidewalk along East West Highway.  The former improvement is in response to a petition from over 300 residents asking for an area in Town where dogs can exercise off-leash during certain limited hours each day.  The latter improvement is in response to the closure of the Capital Crescent Trail and the Town’s interest in providing pedestrians with a safer route to downtown Bethesda and B-CC High School.

You can learn more and provide feedback about these two proposed Zimmerman Park improvements by attending the forum on Wednesday, September 26. Also see the FAQs, three concept maps, and the Land Use Committee’s report. The feedback gathered at the September 26 forum will help the Town understand community sentiment and answer residents’ concerns and comments about the proposed improvements. After the forum, the Town Council will consider hiring a professional design company to create detailed plans which would then be reviewed with residents at a public hearing later this year. Any final decisions regarding these improvements would be subject to the public hearing.

Trash & Treasures Rescheduled
