The Town’s Long-Range Planning Committee wants to let you know of three County Executive Candidate Forums:

Saturday, October 20 (12-1:30 pm) at the Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center, 3310 Gateshead Manor Way, Silver Spring

Sunday, October 21 (7-8:15 pm) at the AMP at Pike and Rose, 11810 Grand Park Ave., N. Bethesda

Thursday, November 1 (7:00 pm) at the Friendship Heights Village Center, 4433 S. Park Ave., Chevy Chase

The County Executive race is hotly contested. Marc Elrich, a three-term at-large County Councilmember, won the Democratic candidacy by 80 votes during the primaries out of a field of six challengers.  Nancy Floreen, a life-long Democrat and four-term at-large County Councilmember, entered the race as an Independent late this summer after the primaries.  Robin Ficker is the Republican nominee.  Both Nancy and Marc were termed out of running for the County Council again this year due to a charter amendment for term limits, authored by Robin Ficker, that passed in 2016.

The County Executive develops policies and proposes budgets, legislation, plans and programs to the County Council. The County Executive also provides political leadership to the community and executive direction to the county government, and appoints residents to boards, commissions and committees.  Each of the candidates have very different views on how the county should grow.  For more, you can go to their websites at:

Early voting is October 25-November 1 (Jane Lawton Center)

Election day is November 6 (Chevy Chase Elementary School)
