Thanksgiving Food Baskets
We have 100 food baskets to fill for MCPS families this Thanksgiving holiday. Please help by dropping off a check payable to the YMCA-YFS or a Safeway/Giant gift by November 16 to the Town Office or to Georgia Guhin (4006 Rosemary Street). All donations are gratefully appreciated. $25 purchases a turkey; $50 purchases groceries; $75 purchases an entire dinner basket. The Town’s Community Relations Committee also invites you to stop by the Lawton Center on November 17 to decorate boxes from 10 am to 12 noon. Join Us at Elm Street Park for Coffee & Bagels and Invasive Plant Removal!
Please RSVP for a 2 hour gardening adventure in Elm Street Park on November 17 from 9 to 11 a.m.
We will have coffee & bagels provided by the Town and gardening tools provided by the Montgomery County Parks Department. The goal is to clean out the invasive plants, guided by the County crew.
We are looking for 10 people to help rid the planting beds of invasive plants. Our mission is to improve and beautify the park. Montgomery County Public School students over the age of 14 are eligible for community service hours from Montgomery County Parks. Purple Line Construction Update
Crews will be working on Saturdays in November at the Bethesda Work Zone on Elm Street, continuing excavation efforts between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
During weekends in November, crews will be working to construct new underpasses at the Columbia Country Club from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Due to varying rock conditions, blasting may be utilized in the Bethesda Shaft location through November 11, between the hours of 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Blasting is not planned on weekends or holidays. Additional notification prior to the blasting activity will be provided.
CCES Athletic Field Closure
Due to a construction project, the athletic field at CCES is closed for public use until further notice.
