Upcoming Street Repairs
The Town is scheduled to make minor street repairs in front of 4119 Aspen Street and 7100 Oakridge Avenue next week, weather permitting.
Christmas Tree Disposal
Christmas trees for disposal are collected on Mondays. All tinsel should be removed and the trees should be placed at the curb for pick-up.
Winter Outerwear Clothing Drive - Continues Until February 28
The Town’s Community Relations Committee, working with the Lawton Community Center, is collecting clean, gently-used or never used warm coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, pants, and socks to donate to a local charity serving those in need. Clothing boxes for your donations are in the Town Hall and the Lawton Community Center.
Purple Line Construction Updates
Night Work at Bethesda/Elm Street Work Zone
On or about January 14, 2019, crews will begin working second shift from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Bethesda Work Zone location to continue excavation efforts.
Blasting at Bethesda/Elm Street Work Zone
Due to varying rock conditions, blasting will occur in the Bethesda Shaft location the week of January 14, 2019, between the hours of 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Friday. Prior to each blast, a siren will be used as a safety precaution for workers within the work zone.
Possible Lane Closures on Connecticut Avenue
Temporary northbound lane closures will occur over the next two weeks on an as needed basis on Connecticut Avenue between Jones Bridge Road and Chevy Chase Lake Drive for trucks to haul construction materials between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Possible Lane Closures on Jones Mill Road
Temporary lane closures will occur over the next two weeks on an as needed basis from Jones Mill Road to Jones Bridge Road for excavation between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
