Winter Weather Information

Information on the Town's street and sidewalk snow removal operations can be found here: Preparations for Winter Weather.   Residents are reminded to follow the posted parking restrictions.



Utility Work Update

On Monday, January 21, Washington Gas is scheduled to begin a small gas main relocation project on Maple Avenue at Bradley Lane, weather permitting.  The contractor will work between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will provide necessary traffic controls.



Christmas Tree Disposal

Christmas trees for disposal are collected on Mondays. All tinsel should be removed and the trees should be placed at the curb for pick-up.



Winter Outerwear Clothing Drive - Continues Until February 28

The Town's Community Relations Committee, working with the Lawton Community Center, is collecting clean, gently-used or never used warm coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, pants, and socks to donate to a local charity serving those in need.   Clothing boxes for your donations are in the Town Hall and the Lawton Community Center.



Purple Line Construction Updates

Blasting at Bethesda/Elm Street Work Zone: Due to varying rock conditions, blasting will occur in the Bethesda Shaft location the week of January 21, 2019, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.   Prior to each blast, a siren will be used as a safety precaution for workers within the work zone.



Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 21

The Town office will be closed.  Household trash and yard trash will be collected as scheduled.
