Town Bake Off -- Breads!
Sunday, March 10, 3-4:40 p.m., Town Hall

Calling any and all bakers!  We need you for the bake off this weekend!  This bake-off is all about BREAD - from dessert loaves to baguettes.  We have not only one, but TWO French bakers who will act as our judges.  One judge is Christ Sokambi, baker of La Bohemia Bakery - who sells his delicious wares at the Farm Women's Market.  The second judge is Stephane Grattier who makes his delicious loaves for Fresh Baguette on Bethesda Ave.  Come sample some delicious bread and have a chance to speak with our expert judges!

Bakers should bring 1 large loaf, or 2 small loaves of the same recipe. There will be prizes for the best bread. Eaters will sample the delicious entries, and vote for the People's Choice Award.

Whether you are a baker or an eater, you need to RSVP to the Town Office at 301-654-7144 or townoffice@townofchevychase.org.

Discussion and Desserts with Marc Howard
Thursday, March 14, 7 p.m., Town Hall

Find out from an expert how Golf Digest helped free a wrongly convicted prisoner after 27 years in prison.  Learn more about the Prisons & Justice Initiative and the Georgetown University Student Prison Reform Project.

Professor Marc Howard of Georgetown University has graciously agreed to speak to the town on the criminal justice system & prison reform; he is one of the nation's leading authorities on this issue.  As the Director of the Prisons & Justice Initiative at GU, he has taught for years at the maximum-security Jessup Correctional Institution in Jessup, MD.

On top of his normal teaching duties, Howard created a groundbreaking undergraduate course called Prison Reform Project, which in the Spring 2018 semester he co-taught with his childhood friend and exoneree Marty Tankleff.  Their students worked to demonstrate the innocence of four likely wrongfully convicted men.  On September 20, 2018,Valentino Dixon walked out of prison after 27 years, in part thanks to the new discoveries made by the Georgetown students.

Marc has been featured in the Washington Post twice, those articles can be found here and here.  His website is http://www.marcmhoward.com/.

RSVP’s are required.  Email townoffice@townofchevychase.org or call 301-654-7144.
