Join the Town’s homegrown Seriously Fun Singers (SFS) at its second performance for Town residents.  SFS has an exciting new program of eclectic popular music that offers a blend of pop, folk and Broadway standards.  Many SFS members hail from the Town.  Come and enjoy music and refreshments. 



Town Council  Election 2019
Tuesday, May 7, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Town Hall

The Town Council election will take place in the Town Hall, 4301 Willow Lane, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Town residents will elect two members, each to serve for a two-year term.

To be eligible to vote, residents who are U.S. citizens must be at least 18 years of age; have resided in the Town for at least 30 days immediately preceding the election; and be a registered voter of the State of Maryland in Montgomery County.  If you have recently moved to the Town of Chevy Chase or are uncertain whether your name is on the list of registered, qualified voters, you may call the Montgomery County Election Board at 240-777-VOTE or visit the Maryland State Board of Elections website at https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/VoterSearch. 

Residents who are not U.S. citizens must be legally authorized to reside in the United States; at least 18 years of age; have resided in the Town for at least 30 days immediately preceding the election; and be registered to vote with the Town.  Voter registration forms for non-U.S. citizen residents are available on the Town website and in the Town office.

Annual Town Meeting
Tuesday, May 7, 6:30 p.m., Lawton Center

At 6:30 p.m., the Town Council will host a reception in the Lawton Center Social Hall.  At 7 p.m., the annual meeting will begin.  Mayor Barney Rush will provide an overview of the Town's accomplishments over the past year, and Town Treasurer Joel Rubin will present the proposed budget and tax rates for the 2020 fiscal year, followed by a public hearing. 



Street Paving Scheduled

Notice of Upcoming Washington Gas Main Replacement

Washington Gas is planning to begin an infrastructure replacement project in the northeast portion of the Town in June of this year.  An informational meeting with representatives from Washington Gas has been scheduled for May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall for residents to learn more about the upcoming project.  Please click here for more information. 



Purple Line Construction Updates

Blasting at Bethesda/Elm Street Work Zone:  During the month of May, blasting will occur at the Bethesda Shaft location between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.  Blasting is not planned on weekends or holidays.  Public notifications will be sent out 72 hours before each blast.  Prior to each blast, a siren will be used as a safety precaution for workers within the work zone.  Regularly scheduled work will continue 24-hours a day, seven days a week, until the project is complete. 

Night Work/Lane Closure on Connecticut Avenue:  During the month of May, crews will be relocating utilities on Connecticut Avenue between Jones Bridge Road and East-West Highway.  Work will occur in two shifts, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Weekend work will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.  Temporary lane closures with flagging operations will occur. 

Traffic Shift on Jones Mill Road:  Blasting will occur between the hours 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. the week of May 6, Monday to Friday at the Bethesda Shaft.  Prior to each blast, a siren will be used as a safety precaution for workers within the work zone.

Weekend Work at Columbia Country Club:  During the month of May, crews will continue work at the Columbia Country Club 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and weekends.  

Weekend Work at Bethesda Work Zone (Elm Street):  During the month of May, crews will be working at the Bethesda Work Zone on Elm Street, continuing excavation efforts on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as weekends.

Weekend Work and Lane Closures on East-West Highway:  During the month of May, temporary lane closures will occur on East-West Highway from Sleaford Road to Montgomery Avenue between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and weekends.  

Weekend Work and Lane Closure on Jones Mill Road and Jones Bridge Road:  During the month of May, temporary lane closures will occur on Jones Bridge Road between Altimont Lane and Jones Mill Road , as well as Jones Mill Road between Flushing Meadow Terrace and Coquelin Terrace between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. 

Weekend Work on the Rock Creek Trail: During the month of May, crews will be performing grading and test pitting operations at Rock Creek Park on weekends from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on an as-need basis.
