The first wholesale rewrite of Montgomery County’s zoning code in more than 30 years is quickly moving toward a vote by the County Council. It is important for residents to be aware of these changes and to contact the County Council [http://www.townofchevychase.org/DocumentCenter/View/964] with your concerns and comments.
While the proposed code maintains the existing residential zone (R-60) throughout our town, it allows for a new type of building and new uses not currently permitted within single-family neighborhoods. The new code also limits opportunities for public input in key land-use decisions.
Full text of the proposed zoning code [http://www.montgomeryplanning.org/development/zoning/] and an interactive map [http://www.mcatlas.org/zc/] showing the proposed zoning changes are available for review. Updates will be provided on the Town's website [http://www.townofchevychase.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=18] as they become available.
