Help By Accepting Help
Hello Neighbors,
We are so fortunate to live in this Town. There are so many caring people here. I sent out an email last week asking for volunteers to do errands and help out those who are homebound during this difficult time. The responses came in quickly, and at this time we have almost 50 volunteers lined up.
So far, everyone wants to help, but very few Town residents have asked for help. We (especially those of us who are not ill or dealing with any chronic health problems) are so used to being self-sufficient that we are reluctant to ask for assistance. And many of us who over 60, including me, don’t even think of ourselves as “seniors.”
We each have a simple choice. Do we want to be Philadelphia or do we want to be Saint Louis? Read this article [https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/15/us/philadelphia-1918-spanish-flu-trnd/index.html] to understand this question.
I am asking those of us in town who are over 60 to choose to be Saint Louis. Self-quarantine is an act of generosity as much as an act of self-preservation. Please be gracious and use our 'Neighbor to Neighbor' volunteers. To request volunteer assistance, please contact me at wicca@wiccadavidson.com.
No one knows what will happen in the weeks ahead. Let’s make prudent decisions and stay safe.
Thank you all,
Wicca Davidson
