Message from Town Council Candidate Barney Rush
Dear Neighbors,
I am excited to be running for a third two year term on the Town Council, and hope I will receive your support. The Forecast contains my statement that sets out a number of initiatives I’ve been engaged in during the past four years, and that I look forward to working on – and hopefully concluding! – during the next term. Most of you are no doubt familiar with much of this work, on matters such as turning the adjacent surface parking lots to parks, mitigating the impact of the Purple Line, developing Zimmerman into a successful multi-use park, and improving pedestrian safety and traffic management.
Due to the public health emergency, I’m not able to walk to your door step and discuss these issues – and any that may be on your mind – as I did two years ago. I really regret that, as I enjoy these conversations and handshakes. But I’d like to encourage you to e-mail me with any questions or comments you have, at barneyrush@outlook.com. I’ll try to be as prompt as possible in getting back to you.
Also, please join us for our candidate’s forum, via Zoom, that will be held this Tuesday, April 28, at 7 p.m. You will have the opportunity to hear all of us candidates answer questions that you have submitted. I look forward to this opportunity to “meet” you.
And please vote. We have all received our ballots by mail, which makes participating in our local democracy easier than ever. Even if there are three candidates for the three positions, voting still matters. It’s a demonstration of your care for local government and its services; and it is a powerful reminder there that we who run and serve, serve you.
Thank you.
Barney Rush
