Chevy Chase Village's Environment and Energy Committee invites you to attend a virtual briefing and discussion of the Montgomery County Pesticide Law. This virtual briefing, which will be held tonight via Zoom, will include Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker, one of the 2015 lead sponsors when the Pesticide Act was introduced in 2015. Councilmember Hucker will cover the background and origin of the law and why he believes independent municipalities in Montgomery County should opt in. Mary Travaglini, Sustainable Landscapes Manager for the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, will provide information about the new Law, which restricts the use of non-essential synthetic pesticides on lawns and turf in public parks and on private property. Ms. Travaglini will discuss implementation of the law; sustainable alternatives to synthetic pesticides for maintaining a healthy lawn; and the experience of independent municipalities in the County who have opted in. There will be a 20 minute Q&A following the presentations to allow for community discussion.
