Bethesda Transportation Solutions Seeks an Advisory Committee Member
Bethesda Transportation Solutions is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Bethesda Transportation Management District (TMD) Advisory Committee [https://www.bethesdatransit.org/bethesda/advisory-committee] . Applicants must live in a neighborhood adjacent to downtown Bethesda.
Transportation management organizations, such as BTS, manage transportation demand and promote teleworking, carpooling, bicycling and walking to work and use of public transportation. BTS focuses on traffic assessment, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, parking and the need for capital improvements in the business district. A major emphasis is placed on promoting programs for transit and ridesharing with employers,
employees and residents commuting in the Bethesda urban district.
BTS is administered by the Bethesda Urban Partnership (BUP) [https://www.bethesda.org/] through a contract agreement with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), Commuter Services
section. The TMD Advisory Committee advises BUP’s Board of Directors and MCDOT on local transportation needs. Bethesda TMD Advisory Committee members are approved by BUP’s Board of Directors.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation and meet every other month on the third Friday morning in downtown Bethesda or virtually. Applicants should send a brief resume detailing pertinent experience, interests and community activities to the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board, 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814 by October 30, 2020.
