Virtual Listening Session on County's Proposed Land Use Changes
Monday, January 18, 6 p.m. via Zoom

Councilmember Irene Lane will conduct the second virtual listening session on the proposed Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 20-07 on Monday, January 18 at 6 p.m.  A recording of the first virtual listening session is available here

The Montgomery County Council is considering significant changes to land-use rules that would allow multi-family housing to be built on residential properties within the Town and other communities surrounding Metro.  These zoning changes were introduced on December 8, 2020 by County Councilmember Will Jawando.  Public hearings are scheduled for January 28 (for the County Planning Board) and February 11 (for the County Council).  The stated purpose of ZTA 20-07 is to provide more housing options within transit-proximate neighborhoods at more price points to alleviate Montgomery County’s affordable and “missing middle” housing shortages.

The Town Council would like to hear your questions and comments about this proposed legislation.  How would you feel about a duplex or townhouse or apartment building replacing the house next door to you?  Do you have any opinions about the height, setback, or parking requirements for these structures?
