Dear Neighbors,
On Tuesday May 5th I was elected through the efforts of 168 Town residents. The Town reviewed all challenges to the election, the results were upheld and the election certified. I will be sworn in this evening at the Council meeting and begin my term of office.
As a Councilmember my role is to represent every one of you diligently, not just those who voted for me. I pledge to listen to all residents and to represent them fairly, putting the interests of the Town first.
I believe in the transparency of government action to its citizens. I am an ardent supporter and advocate of the Maryland Open Meetings Act, and believe that through rigorous adherence to that Act we can best serve our neighbors and our Town. I am dedicated to fiscal responsibility, public safety and the preservation of the character of our Town using common sense as our guide.
Again, I want to thank the many people who came out and elected me to the Council. I thank Ms. Burda for her service, wish her well in the future, and hope she will continue to work with the new Council to achieve the Town’s goals. I will strive to heal divisions within our Town and look forward to getting to work with all members of the Council in the days and weeks to come.
Thank you again,
Fred A. Cecere MD
