4-H Update -- July 28, 2021

The Town has not heard an official announcement from 4-H regarding a winning bidder for the 4-H Conference Center property.  Town representatives recently reached out to the 4-H’s leadership and their broker, requesting an open/public introductory meeting with the successful bidder(s).  The 4-H respectfully declined a meeting at this time, citing that the winning bidder(s) do not wish to be identified until after a Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA) is fully executed.  This is not uncommon in commercial real estate transactions, and we have been assured the purchaser(s) will reach out to the Town shortly after the PSA is signed.

We anticipate the PSA  will be executed by early August.  The 4-H would like to maintain its long standing goal of closing the sale before the end of the year.  We have made it clear to the 4-H and their broker that the Town looks forward to a collaborative process to ensure a successful outcome for all stakeholders, including the Town.

We expect that the planning and approvals required for a development of this size will include a lengthy public process involving many County and State agencies.  The entire approval process could extend for two to three years.

We look forward to the announcement of the successful bidder(s) and to hear their plans for the property.  In the interim, we encourage interested residents to attend the 4-H Committee’s weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. for updates and Q&A.  The 4-H Committee is assembling a list of questions for the successful bidder.  Residents are encouraged to send their questions to the 4-H Committee by email to 4-HSpecialCommittee@townofchevychase.org.
