On July 9, the Town’s Revenue Working Group met to discuss Town income tax revenue and methodologies to better predict future income tax receipts. The group, led by Councilmember and Treasurer Fred Cecere and Town residents Zach Gast and Tricia Daniels, met with Mayor Al Lang and Town Manager Todd Hoffman to analyze data provided by the State Comptroller’s office and discuss ways to correlate income tax revenue with other demographic factors. The group also discussed the financial impact of the recent Supreme Court ruling that will require the State of Maryland to offer residents a full credit for income taxes paid to other states on income they earned in those states. At the conclusion of the meeting, members asked the Town Manager to obtain additional data from the State Comptroller’s office for further analysis and agreed to meet again on August 17 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall. Mayor Lang reported that Town resident Nilmini Rubin had volunteered to serve on the Revenue Working Group, and, following a review of her qualifications, appointed her to the group.
