2016 Town Council Election Results

The Election Board advises that there are apparent errors in the vote count submitted by the League of Women Voters following last Tuesday’s election. These errors are likely due to an undercount of ballots and are NOT of the magnitude to call into question the outcome of the election, which remains certified. The League, which managed the Town’s election, will conduct a recount beginning Monday morning, May 16, and will submit results to the Town, along with an explanation for any errors in the initial count. The Election Board will conduct its own review and attempt to determine the reasons for the discrepancies. We will report results and recommendations to the Council.

The probable errors were discovered by Town staff in the course of responding to public information requests for copies of the ballots and other information. One of the requestors shared his own count with the Town, and the results are close to the staff count.

We stress that none of the vote counts would come close to impacting the results of Tuesday's election. We will keep you apprised of developments, including the final vote count.
