Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets-- Tuesday, November 1, 2016 - Saturday, November 19, 2016. This year, the Town’s Community Relations Committee is doubling the number of food baskets to help 150 families. The programs of the YMCA-YFS are serving more families than ever, particularly in the Silver Spring community where families are still experiencing very difficult challenges brought on by August’s devastating fire. Please support this community effort! Click here to view the Town flyer.

Winter Outwear Clothing Drive-- Tuesday, November 1, 2016 - Tuesday, January 31, 2017. The Town’s Community Relations Committee, working with the Lawton Community Center, is collecting clean, gently-used or never used warm coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, pants, and socks to donate to local charities serving those in need.  Clothing boxes for your donations are in the Town Hall (Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and the Lawton Community Center (Monday thru Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)

Movie Night for Families-- Friday, November 4, 2016. The sequel to the 2012 animated hit Hotel Transylvania is fine for viewers of all ages, so says the Rotten Tomatoes review.  This time, Dracula (voiced once again by Adam Sandler) tries to coax out the latent vampire tendencies in his sweet, 4-year-old grandson, Dennis. He also has a hotel to run with the help of his monster friends.  The movie is 91 minutes long.  Pizza, drinks and snacks will be served beginning at 5:40 p.m.  The show starts promptly at 6 p.m.  Space is limited, so please RSVP to townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144.  Parents, or other responsible adults, must attend the movie with their children.

Utility Work Update -- Next week, WSSC will be working near Rosemary Circle and on Stanford Street west of the Circle. Additionally, they will be doing some tie-in and backfilling work in locations where steel plates have been placed on the roadways.

Washington Gas will continue to make individual house connections to the newly installed mains, and will begin to install new gas mains on Stanford Street west of Oakridge Avenue. In approximately two weeks, the Washington Gas paving contractor intends to start replacing the temporary asphalt that is backfilled into the excavated trenches with the permanent base asphalt. This will provide a solid foundation for the roadways in anticipation of final repaving to be done at a later date.

Thank you for your continued patience during the ongoing utility work. Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.
