The 2nd District (Bethesda) has been experiencing a recent rash of residential burglaries, several where the suspect has used force to gain entry into homes. In the last two weeks, we have arrested two separate suspects. Unfortunately, after the last arrest, we had another burglary occur that same night which means there are still some criminals active in our district.

We continue to focus resources on these burglaries and have updated response procedures for residential alarms occurring where the burglaries are occurring. It is important that I reiterate my message that residents must be our eyes and ears. If you see anyone entering backyards that don’t belong there, please call us immediately, and we will respond with lights and sirens. If you see a suspicious car in your neighborhood, please make note of the tag number and a description of the vehicle for us.

We will continue to provide a comprehensive on-scene response and follow up by our detective unit for each and every case until this trend is stopped. Thank you in advance for keeping a watch over your neighborhoods.

Commander – 2nd District
