Utility Work Update -- Next week, WSSC will continue to install the water main bypass on Beechwood Drive.  The temporary water mains will have to be tested for several days before they can be put into service, so little construction work is expected to occur.  Next week Washington Gas will not be working in Town.  Thank you for your continued patience during the ongoing utility work. Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.

Concrete Repairs -- The Town's concrete contractor, D&F Construction, will be in town beginning on Monday making repairs to damaged and poorly draining sidewalks throughout Town.  No parking signs will be posted on impacted streets in advance of the work.  Please contact the Town Office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org or 301-654-7144 if you have any questions.

Art Show Opens Tonight! -- Tonight, Friday, April 28, is the opening night for the Town’s largest Art Show ever with 30 artists displaying their works in a variety of media. You are warmly invited to come tonight from 5:30 to 8 PM and again tomorrow, Saturday, April 29, from 3 to 6 PM. Both days will feature a wine and snacks reception. Some works will be for sale, while others just for display. Purchases will be by check only.  We cannot take reservations for purchases.  So, if you think you might want to make a purchase, please bring your checkbook. RSVPs are not required. Town resident/artist Katie Freeman Vita is curating the show, which is being organized by the Community Relations Committee. Hope to see you there!

May 2 Annual Meeting & Election  -- The Town’s annual meeting and election will be held on May 2. Town residents will select two candidates in the 2017 election, each to serve on the Council for a two-year term.  The poll will be located in the Town Hall, 4301 Willow Lane, and will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Town Council will host a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. that evening.  At 7 p.m., the annual meeting will begin with a presentation by State Senator Rich Madaleno, who will provide a “wrap-up” of the 2017 General Assembly session. Mayor Scott Fosler will then provide an overview of the Town’s accomplishments over the past year, and Town Treasurer Barney Rush will present the proposed budget and tax rates for the 2018 fiscal year, followed by a public hearing.

FY18 Budget Process Continues -- Residents are encouraged to review and comment on the Town’s proposed FY18 budget.  A summary of the proposed budget was included in the Election issue of the Forecast, and comprehensive budget documents are available here.  The Town Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget at the May 2 annual meeting before adopting a final budget for the next fiscal year.  Comments on the proposed budget may be sent to the Town office at townoffice@townofchevychase.org.

Spring Festival -- Saturday, May 6, 12 to 4 PM. This event, co-sponsored by the Community Relations Committee and The Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center, is a festive celebration for all ages. Come out for Mariachi music, a moon bounce, games, crafts, food trucks, henna tattoos and more! Please bring cans or boxes of non-perishable food for Manna, as the truck will be collecting food for the hungry in Montgomery County. No RSVPs needed for this enjoyable afternoon
