Election Day for the Town Council is this Tuesday, May 2. There are two open seats on the ballot this year, and I am running for election to a full term along with Joel Rubin. I enjoyed having an opportunity to speak about my candidacy with those of you who were able to attend Wednesday evening’s Candidates' Forum - thank you for coming.
In case you were not able to make it, I want to invite you to join Joel and me this Sunday afternoon, April 30, at another Meet the Candidates event, graciously hosted by Evelyn and Dan Chung. Although Joel and I are unopposed, we would still like to get to know as many Town residents as possible and chat with you about any thoughts, concerns, or questions you may have. We will have light snacks and beverages; kids are welcome, as we will have “kid watchers” available as well.
When: Sunday, April 30, 3:30-5:00pm
Where: The Chungs, 4411 Leland Street
RSVPs are not required but are appreciated for planning purposes. You may RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Whether or not you are able to make it on Sunday, I also want to invite you to reach out to me – before and after the election – with any questions or thoughts you may have related to our Town governance or the issues we face. I embark on this adventure filled with a desire to listen and to learn as much as I can on each issue before exercising the best judgment I can. As part of that, I would like to find ways to solicit views from a broad cross-section of residents, including those who may not have the time or inclination to attend evening meetings. I would also like to explore ways to adapt our communication strategies to take advantage of new technology - without assuming that all residents want to or can use that new technology. As I revealed at the Candidates' Forum, I am not on Facebook, and I still carry a flip phone – but I still want the Town Council to think creatively about how we can use the media available today to improve our functions.
I hope to see you on Sunday afternoon, and I encourage you to vote on May 2. Thank you for your support.
