The first wholesale rewrite of Montgomery County’s zoning code in more than 30 years is quickly moving toward a vote by the County Council. While the proposed code maintains the existing residential zone (R-60) throughout our town, it allows for a new type of building and new uses not currently permitted within single-family neighborhoods. The new code also limits opportunities for public input in key land-use decisions. More information on these changes and how to forward your comments to the County Council is available here.
On November 12 and 14, the full County Council will hold public hearings to hear feedback about the Revised Preliminary Planning, Housing, and Economic Development (PHED) draft text and map. The PHED committee will meet in December to consider the public hearing testimony and finalize the PHED draft.
